I went to the rancid show tonight at the Henry Fonda theater in hollywood. The Necro show actually drew more people than this show but it was a cool show. They played a lot of their older stuff and them some of their more poppy shit. I never really listened to them before so I don't know their playlist or anything. They played some Operation Ivy songs too. It was a good show

haha the one in the white got crushed in the pit and left to the balcony after one song and the other chick in the black dress got booted in her head and knocked out and dragged out of the pit. silly hookers.

it was my first big punk show and I actually had a lot of fun. the crowd is totally different than a hip hop show of course and it was wild. the broads didn't stand a chance

Punk shows are hectic as fuck. Hip Hop shows are completely different.

My old band played a couple shows with Rancid back in the early to mid 90's. They were pretty cool guys, I hung out with Brett, the drummer and drank 40's of Mickeys with Lars, the guy with the blonde hair in the blue shirt. Rancid were pretty good when they first started out, but they started to get whack when they began ripping off the Clash wholeheartedly and claiming they were from Oakland when really they were from Berkeley. It just reflected that they became more about fashion and what people thought of them than the actual music. Of course it's much cooler to be from Oakland in the eyes of someone who's never been to the Bay Area, but Operation Ivy used to be super proud of being part of Berkeley and the great Berkeley punk scene. Berkeley is actually a cool, very diverse city, it's just that people in the red states think it's some sort of liberal hellhole, when in reality cities like Santa Cruz are much more liberal than Berkeley is.

They have this one song called "Dope Sick Girl" that I really like. Of their more commercial songs, I probably like "Time Bomb" the best. Here's the video for it.

Edit - Rancid also have a good song called "Daly City Train" which is the train I take from Embarcadero to 16th & Mission to get home from work every night.

Punk shows are a lot of fun. I have never seen Rancid but did get to see Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards some time ago.
