I heard that the Pound might be closing weeks ago but now its official. I can't even began to count how many shows I've been to at the Pound over the years. This is quite the blow for the bay area metal scene. I will miss this place a whole lot...

The Pound in San Francisco, which has served as the epicenter of 90 percent of all metal and hardcore shows in the Bay Area, is closing its doors tonight (Sunday, October 22) after reportedly being with an eviction notice by the S.F. Port Authority. Therefore the FEAR FACTORY show that was due to take place on Friday, October 27 there is now taking place at the Oakland Metro Operahouse in Oakland. The address is 201 Broadway. Web site is www.oaklandmetro.org (http://www.oaklandmetro.org/). All tickets from the Pound show will be honored at door.

The very last concert at The Pound tonight will feature performances by ANIMOSITY, SEIZE THE NIGHT, BURN IN SILENCE and INTRONAUT, among others.

For more information, visit www.poundsf.com (http://www.poundsf.com/).

I met the owner once when I was DJing at the Cat Club, which he also used to own. His name is Tony. He had just dropped his bartender girlfriend off and was parking his corvette in front of the club and this homeless person was in the way and he got out and was yelling like a crazy man and I seriously thought he was gonna beat down this poor homeless person. That's when the manager decided to introduce me to him. He was nice enough to me.

Do you know what the story is? A lot of places around SF that I know and love are shutting down these days. Not cool.

The most I've heard is that they lost their lease or they didn't renew it.
