Furst, have you thought about incorporating some kind of visual login, for registering new accounts.... like how rapidshare and other sites make you copy and paste a code that these bots cant read, thus slowing the influx of spambots...
These bot appearaces seem to be getting more frequent, and it's obviously the newser and mrmaker bots that are attracting them no?

There's already a captcha (the visual thingamajig) that they have to pass during registration. I'm not sure what else can be done. Perhaps I'll make it so people need at least 1 post before posting links, but that would decrease the amount of new posting members at the sex bowrd, so it's not the best option.

All these stupid bots are just trying to steal a piece of Newser's sunshine.

how about a confirming email, that is sent to your email address upon registering, on which you have to click a link and enter a code etc.
tbh i dont remember if this is already done. but if it is i have no more ideas...
