Before discussing a conspiracy theory, it is important that the participants know what a conspiracy theory is and what its vices are.
Conspiracy Theories often have the following features:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conspiracy_theories (http://safeurl.de/?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conspiracy_theories)
1. Initiated on the basis of limited, partial or circumstantial evidence; Conceived in reaction to media reports and images, as opposed to, for example, thorough knowledge of the relevant forensic evidence.
2. Addresses an event or process that has broad historical or emotional impact; Seeks to interpret a phenomenon which has near-universal interest and emotional significance, a story that may thus be of some compelling interest to a wide audience.
3. Reduces morally complex social phenomena to simple, immoral actions; Impersonal, institutional processes, especially errors and oversights, interpreted as malign, consciously intended and designed by immoral individuals.
4. Personifies complex social phenomena as powerful individual conspirators; Related to (3) but distinct from it, deduces the existence of powerful individual conspirators from the 'impossibility' that a chain of events lacked direction by a person.
5. Allots superhuman talents and/or resources to conspirators; May require conspirators to possess unique discipline, never to repent, to possess unknown technology, uncommon psychological insight, historical foresight, unlimited resources, etc.
6. Key steps in argument rely on inductive, not deductive reasoning; Inductive steps are mistaken to bear as much confidence as deductive ones.
7. Appeals to 'common sense'; Common sense steps substitute for the more robust, academically respectable methodologies available for investigating sociological and scientific phenomena.
8. Exhibits well-established logical and methodological fallacies; Formal and informal logical fallacies are readily identifiable among the key steps of the argument.
9. Is produced and circulated by 'outsiders', often anonymous, and generally lacking peer review; Story originates with a person who lacks any insider contact or knowledge, and enjoys popularity among persons who lack critical (especially technical) knowledge.
10. Is upheld by persons with demonstrably false conceptions of relevant science; At least some of the story's believers believe it on the basis of a mistaken grasp of elementary scientific facts.
11. Enjoys zero credibility in expert communities; Academics and professionals tend to ignore the story, treating it as too frivolous to invest their time and risk their personal authority in disproving.
12. Rebuttals provided by experts are ignored or accommodated through elaborate new twists in the narrative; When experts do respond to the story with critical new evidence, the conspiracy is elaborated (sometimes to a spectacular degree) to discount the new evidence, often incorporating the rebuttal as a part of the conspiracy.'

Cognitive dissonance is the perception of incompatibility between two cognitions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognition), which can be defined as any element of knowledge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knowledge), including attitude (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attitude_%28psychology%29), emotion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emotion), belief (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belief), or behavior (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behavior). The theory of cognitive dissonance holds that contradicting cognitions serve as a driving force that compels the mind to acquire or invent new thoughts or beliefs, or to modify existing beliefs, so as to reduce the amount of dissonance (conflict) between cognitions. Experiments have attempted to quantify this hypothetical drive.
I believe I posted something similar to this the first time you posted this magic list of Talleyrand-like braggadocio.

Yes, and here was my response:
The difference between what I posted and what you posted is that my post directly relates to conspiracies, while your post, while true, deals with cognition which is a function of the mind. You are posting it to suggest that those that don't buy into conspiracies suffer from "cognitive dissonance". The implication of this is that people such as yourself who believe in conspiracies do not suffer from this.
Ever hear of Calvinism and predestination? You suffer from the Calvinistic mindset

I'm just musing... Consider if you will, the role of the U.S. government in the "free" market and the emergence of a new world order:
- the world's top aircraft manufacturers have extremely lucrative, TEN FIGURE contracts with the DoD. Given the amount of money provided to these companies by the DoD, it's not inconceivable that politics may influence the policy of the companies that supply the vast majority of the world's civilian aircrafts.
- Halliburton is a defense contractor. Dick Cheney, once a CEO, and then VP, accused of criminal relations involving Halliburton. Who got the best access to Iraq's oil? Halliburton. The U.S. doesn't need Iraq's oil, but it's good security when Halliburton is put in charge. Even Osama thinks so!
- Monsanto. Purely evil. this (http://members.aye.net/~hippie/monsanto.htm) site outlines the political affiliation. How does Monsanto relate to the aforementioned defense contractors? Well let's see... Lockheed Martin and Boeing monopolize pretty much everything to do with things in the sky that aren't birds or clouds, Halliburton monopolizes ENERGY, and Monsanto monopolizes FOOD.
Evidence:
a) Monsanto has a history as a defense contractor; they made the Agent Orange used during the Vietnam war
b) as you can determine from the link, politics is still a prevalent theme with Monsanto
c) Monsanto has patented numerous food genes, which gives it the legal power (a power it has abused) to SUE anyone with Monsanto genes on their property. The problem is, Monsanto crops aren't shielded and this allows natural forces such as critters and wind to carry genetically modified seeds and cross-pollinate non-modified plants where they may fall. In other words, Monsanto is freely taking over farms and leaving the innocent farmers with two options: PAY us for having our product on your land, or we SUE.
There you have it, a collection of multinational corporations who have a very strong allegiance to the current U.S. government administration. The worst part is that these controllers of air, space, energy, and food; i.e. necessities, are given the power to exert POLITICAL influence with any country they do BUSINESS with. For Halliburton, it's the military-secured Iraqi operations, for Monsanto, it's the exploitation of the short-sighted legal system that allowed them to patent, and the rest... well, here's hoping that Lockheed Martin and Boeing won't start making unreasonable demands on our necessities one of these days.

I think all of the points you bring are valid but I would be careful in calling it a conspiracy theory. You'll rile up the nuts out there who seize on bits of info like this to build a reptilian Illuminati argument.
However, it is a fact of our government that certain corporations have more pull than the others. It can be traced back as far as WWI, where corporations had a large hand in propelling us into the conflict to further their own commercial needs. I think anybody who talks about a "free market" today with a straight face is most surely a dolt. The line between private and public sectors has never really existed as laid down by most economists, but that doesn't stop them from trying to assert it.
